Hi, I’m Joanne!
This blog chronicles my sewing projects.
Zoe Livana is loosely translated as life goddess in Greek. It’s a name that gives me inspiration and feels nice on the tongue. I believe that all women are life goddesses.
When I first started blogging, I would have said that I mainly like to sew with Vogue patterns, but in 2013 especially, I became acquainted with many indie designers such as Megan Nielsen, Deer and Doe, Colette patterns, and Victory Patterns, and I’ve fallen in love.
A little bit about the non-sewing-related me
I’m Canadian/Dutch and I live in The Netherlands. I came here on vacation in 2002 and fell in love and moved here in 2004 to study. I studied International Business and Management in Leeuwarden, then Social Science in Wageningen, The Netherlands. In 2010 I was in a quadding accident that left me with only one vocal chord, and I now perpetually sound like I have a cold (or incredibly sexy, take your pick). I am currently working as a graphic designer at a company that specializes in professional development for teachers. I spent a half year in Canada in 2015-2016 to study and work as an English as a Second Language teacher and am currently looking for work in this field.
